Giant Panda, Chengdu
Day 1 - London Heathrow to Shanghai
Depart from London Heathrow airport for scheduled flight to Shanghai. We can also arrange departures from your local airport.
Day 2 - Shanghai
Arrive at Shanghai Pudong Airport and transfer to 4* hotel in city centre. Rest of day free at leisure.
This evening enjoy a welcome dinner with your fellow panda volunteers. (B/D)
Day 3 - Shanghai
Today we tour Shanghai city with a visit to the Jade Buddha Temple, Yuyuan Garden, Shanghai Museum and a stroll along the Bund.
This evening enjoy the famous Shanghai Acrobatic Show. (B/L/D)
Day 4 - Shanghai to Chengdu
Today we transfer to the airport for a flight to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province. Upon arrival we travel to Leshan and visit the Grand Buddha Statue.
This evening after a Sichuan style dinner enjoy a traditional Chuan Opera performance. (B/L/D)
Day 5 - Chengdu / Woolong
This morning we drive to Woolong Nature Reserve, the first and largest Panda reserve. This is where our adventure with the Panda bear begins!
Today you will closely observe the Pandas and their keepers. (B/L/D)
Day 6 and 7 - Panda Garden Voluntary Work
For the next 2 days we will work as volunteers at the Panda Garden. This will involve cleaning the panda pen and feeding etc. The raisers will tell you their stories of raising Giant Pandas and teach you how to cook for them and treat them when they are ill. (B/L/D)
Day 8 - Woolong to Yangshou
Today we bid farewell to the Pandas and drive back to Chengdu. From here we take a short flight to Guilin, where upon arrival we will be transferred to Yangshou - a small town near Guilin which boasts of stunning landscapes.
After dinner this evening we will see traditional cormorant fishing by local fishermen. (B/D)
Day 9 - Yangshou
Today we explore the surrounding area on bicycle (or motorised rickshaw if you prefer) visiting Moon Hill and the Big Banyan Tree. The afternoon is time for a well deserved rest, or if you prefer we will take you for a Chinese Cooking Lesson, the choice is yours! (B/L/D)
Day 10 - Yangshou to Lonsheng/Ping'an
Today we drive north to Longsheng where we will visit the stunning "Dragons Back Bone" Rice Terraces.
Later we continue to explore the 600 year-old Zhuang minority village of Ping'an, where we will stay overnight. (B/L/D)
Day 11 - Longsheng/Ping'an to Hong Kong
This morning we drive to Guilin, one of the most picturesque cities in China. Upon arrival we will visit the Reed Flute Cave.
Late afternoon transfer to airport for flight to Hong Kong. Upon arrival we transfer to 4* hotel in city centre. (B/L)
Day 12 and 13 - Hong Kong
Day time free to relax or feel the rush as you indulge in shopping and savour the culinary delicacies that Hong Kong has to offer. (B)
Day 14 - Hong Kong to London Heathrow
Day time free. Late evening transfer to airport for flight home. (B)
Day 15 - London
Morning arrive in London. End of itinerary.
