Choose the Season for Your China Holiday


If you are thinking of visiting China, you can take your China holiday anytime in the year. This is because of the many territories, sites and activities that China has to offer to you. It if up to you to decide when to take your China holiday based on the places you intend to visit, the weather you prefer and your budget.

As China is a huge country with different climates and landscapes, you face a lot of diversity during your China holiday. The peak tourist months for China holiday are April, May, September and October when the weather is most comfortable.

The ice lantern festival makes a winter visit interesting

If you plan a budget China holiday, visit China between November to March or from June to August. China holiday to Hainan Island and Northeast Harbin during the winter months are very popular as people head to attend the world famous ice lantern festival. If it is the Far East Manchuria that you intend to explore during the China holiday, take the trip in the summer. 

Basically, China has a seasonal and continental climate where most areas are in the temperate zone. However, southern areas of China are found in the tropical and subtropical zone whilst the northern areas are in the Frigid Zone. This is why different areas have different complicated climates.

Pack your clothes according to the season during your China holiday

You can go to the northern Heilongjiang province which has a winter climate throughout the year and without any summer. Then there is the Hainan Island that has a summer climate throughout the year, without any winter.

If you wish to have your China holiday in spring, the temperature will be between 10 to 22 C.  If you are having your China holiday in summer, the temperature will be 22 C and above; so pack accordingly.

If you have your China holiday in autumn, the temperature is between 10-22 C where there may be chances of rain so take along your rainwear too. If your China holiday is in the winter, the temperatures go below 10 degrees C.

Use cash, cards or traveler’s checks during your China holiday

Of course, when on your China holiday, carry their local currency, called Renminbi, which is a unit of the Yuan. The smaller units of Chinese currency are the Jiao and fen, which are all available as paper banknotes and coins. Its abbreviation is RMB.

Though credit cards like American Express, Master Card, Visa and Diners Card are accepted in most hotels, restaurants and shops, you need to have Chinese currency on you during your China holiday for buying stuff at roadside stores and restaurants.

You can exchange unused Chinese currency

You can also use traveler’s checks from international commercial banks for making payments during your China holiday. However foreign currency cannot be circulated in China, or used for settling accounts.  China accepts and converts some foreign currency like US dollar and Singapore dollar following the exchange rate declared by the State Administration of Exchange Control.

On the termination of your China holiday, any unused Chinese Renminbi can be changed to your currency using the ‘foreign exchange certificate,’ having a validity of six months. So whenever you go on China holiday, ensure you have sufficient finance to enjoy your holidays.
