Day 2 & 3 - Saigon
Today we visit the Cu Chi tunnel system built by Communist guerrillas during the Vietnam War before enjoying a tasty lunch of “Pho” noodle soup at the famous “Pho 24” restaurant.
In the afternoon we visit Cholon – the bustling Chinatown district and a famous Pagoda. On the way back we go for an orientation walk along Saigon’s historic boulevards, visiting some of the city’s most interesting sites like the Central Post Office and the Notre Dame Cathedral. In the evening we maintain the Vietnamese culinary theme. (B/L/D)
The following day we tour the Mekong Delta – Vietnam’s most fertile region – and enjoy lunch with a local speciality, Elephant’s Ear Fish and Rice Ball. (B/L)
Day 4 & 5 - Saigon to Hanoi
This morning we depart Saigon for a flight to Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital and cultural centre that retains the palpable French influence. After lunch with Hanoi’s speciality at “Cha Ca La Vong” restaurant, we take a moment to enjoy coffee and French Pastry at “Hoa Sua” café. We spend several hours visiting the Museum of Ethnology for an overview of Vietnam’s cultural diversity before a ride by Cyclo to explore the French Quarter. A unique show of Water Puppetry will follow before we experience a French culinary theme. (B/L/D)
The next morning we journey east to Vietnam’s greatest natural wonder, Halong Bay. Here we will cruise the bay’s 3000 magnificent limestone islets whilst enjoying a fresh seafood lunch on the boat. We return to Hanoi in the evening. (B/L)
